Synopsis:
Night Stage (Ato Noturno) follows Matias, a young, aspiring actor fighting for his big break in Porto Alegre’s theater scene. He lives with his roommate Fabio, who receives preferential attention in auditions. In his frustration, Matias embarks on a clandestine affair with Rafael, a charismatic but closeted politician on the brink of a mayoral campaign.
Their connection is defined by a shared fetish—sexual encounters in public places. These risky liaisons grow more intense as Matias lands the coveted role of his dreams and Rafael's political star rises. The tension escalates: career demands, shifting power dynamics, and societal expectations spiral the relationship into dangerous territory. The film probes themes of performance—on stage, in politics, and in the bedroom—while dissecting the oppressive dichotomy of public personae versus hidden desire.
